What You Can Do to Heal Your Country

ree

Everyone I know would love to bring a new heart of love to America. We have been divided for too long. The answer for our problems can only come from God. That means that if we really believe God and pray for each other and for our country, something is bound to happen. So,

1. Pray for America to Return to God

The principle of Revelation 2:4-5 works for churches as well as nations... “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.”

2. Pray for Godly Principles and Leadership

When the righteous rule, there is order and peace. Pray for God to raise up godly leaders in your country, and ask God to turn the hearts of all those in authority to Himself. Pray that they would lead their country by love and by godly example, based on biblical principles.

3. Pray for Our Country to Heal, first in your own Relationship with Him, and then in your relationships with each other.

Start with praying for your own relationship with God. Ask God to increase your faith as you read His Word. Ask for a more intimate, prayerful relationship with Him. Ask for more of God's gift of grace (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Oswald Chambers said, “God does not hear us because we pray earnestly–He hears us solely on the basis of redemption. Prayer is not simply getting things from God–that is only the most elementary kind of prayer. Prayer is coming into perfect fellowship and oneness with God.”

Pray that we would pursue the path of peace, but, not on our terms, but on God's terms.

4. Pray for God to Bring Renewal and Revival

If our hearts are blinded by hatred, pride, or prejudice, we will hinder God’s work. If we are more concerned with our own rights than our right relationship with Jesus and our fellowman, we cannot contribute to our nation's healing. Humbling ourselves is the opposite of selfish pride. And the Bible is clear that a prideful country, along with its people will fall.

Pray for a renewal of your own relationship with Jesus. Seek His face and ask Him to show you anything in your heart that has replaced Him or your love for Him–anything that needs changing or rearranging.

What follows repentance and renewal? God says He will forgive and heal our land–our country.

5. Pray for Wisdom and Godly Counselors

Ask the Lord to provide godly counselors who will surround the lawmakers and leaders of our nation. Pray for His protection over those leaders and their families, that they will seek the truth that can set nations free. Ask Him to give them wisdom to influence every decision.

6. Ask God to Open Blind Eyes

Pray that God will remove the blinders from the eyes of those who cannot see the truth, and for an openness and hunger to hear the solutions that can truly heal a country and its people. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” Psalm 33:12. Pray for Light and Truth to be revealed to the blind.

Pray for wholesome relationships, spiritual renewal, and true revival. Ask God for forgiveness, grace, and mercy to thrive. Then pray for Biblical justice, kindness, generosity, and love to permeate every decision. Ask the Lord to bring unity, understanding, wisdom, and peace to every heart.

Pray for fathers who have left their first love for Jesus to take their place in leading their families back to God. Ask God to help families humble themselves and reconnect with God. Pray for marriages to return to their first love. Also pray for children to respect and honor parents, and for parents to love their children. Strong families and strong marriages based on God’s Word make a strong nation.

What More Can You Do?

Be faithful in your commitment to Jesus every day. Listen more and seek true understanding. Watch for opportunities to love more and criticize less. Be informed about issues needing prayer and godly wisdom. Walk humbly and treat others fairly. Most of all, pray. Pray for healing, and pray for yourself. Remember to pray for others, and especially for your country. Prayer is active, and it is godly action. Therefore, pray as if your life, your family and your country’s healing depend on it, because it does.

Lord, thank you for how You will answer the prayers of your people as they seek Your face over our country. Heal us as individuals, as families and as a nation. Amen.

PS

Christopher Boda is still staying with us in St Croix Falls. Continue to pray that he will make contact with people who will catch His vision for supporting orphans and having Bibles printed in 150-million-person Banjara language... a huge unreached people group! He has planted 105 churches among this tribe, yet they have no Bible in their language. Please pray and help!  Thank you!

Christopher will be in the US until August 5th. We are looking for a volunteer to take him to the airport that day.

That gives you time to invite him to your home, take him out to lunch, ask him to speak to your small group or church, or have him stay at your home while in your community.

Give me a call at 715-475-7666 or email me and you can schedule a time with our missionary from India.

Yes, he is willing to go anywhere in the US, so give us a call.  Thank you!

LIFE IS COFFEE

The pastor took charge of serving coffee at church one Sunday. As the people assembled, the conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering everyone coffee, the pastor brought out an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain-looking, some expensive, and some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

After all the people had a cup of coffee in hand, the pastor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want only the best for yourselves that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases, it's just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and then began eyeing each other's cups."

Now consider this: Life is the coffee, and the jobs, houses, cars, things, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain life, and the type of cup we have does not define nor change the quality of life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee.

Enjoy your coffee. Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections.

A lady went to the Pastor and said ... "I won’t be attending Church anymore."

He said, "May I ask why??"

She said, "I see people on their cell phones during the service, some are gossiping, some just ain’t living right, they are all just hypocrites."

The Pastor got silent and he said, "Ok... But can I ask you to do something for me before you make your final decision?"

She said, "What’s that?"

He said, "Take a glass of water and walk around the Church 2 times and don’t let any water fall out the glass."

She said, "Yes I can do that."

She came back and said "It’s done."

He asked her 3 questions:

1. Did you see anybody on their phone?

2. Did you see anybody gossiping?

3. Was anybody living wrong?

She said, "I didn’t see anything because I was so focused on this glass, so the water wouldn’t fall."

He told her, "When you come to Church, you should be just that focused on God , so that you don’t fall. That’s why Jesus said, 'Follow me.' He did not say follow Christians. Don’t let your relationship with God be determined by how others relate with God. Let it be determined by how focused YOU are on God."
