“Behold, I Am Doing a New Thing”

Isaiah 43:19  “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

A new year doesn’t magically erase the wilderness seasons we’ve walked through. But God’s promise in Isaiah is not about our circumstances changing first—it’s about His presence breaking in with newness, direction, and hope.

God specializes in:

  • Making paths where none existed

  • Bringing life to dry places

  • Renewing hearts that feel worn

  • Restoring vision where it has faded

The “new thing” God brings is not always loud or dramatic. Sometimes it begins as a small spring—quiet, steady, and faithful. As you step into this year, you’re not asked to manufacture strength or clarity. You’re invited to perceive what God is already doing.

This year can be different not because you are different, but because God is faithful. He goes before you, walks beside you, and strengthens you from within.

My prayer is that 2026 will be a year where you fall in love with God and His Word—may His wisdom become your anchor and His promises your hope

And as we step into this new year, I want you to know I am praying Paul’s prayer from Colossians 1:9 over you:

“…that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.”

Thank you, God, for the gift of a new beginning! As I begin this journey with you in Your Word, please open my eyes and speak to me. Help me to know You and experience You each new day.  Open my eyes to see the new things You are doing in my life. Make a way where I cannot see one. Refresh the dry places of my heart. Lead me with Your wisdom, fill me with Your peace, and help me walk in step with Your Spirit. I entrust this year to You—every hope, every plan, every unknown. Do something new in me, through me, and around me for Your glory. Amen.

*A personal note to you:

Beloved friends in Christ,

As we step into a new year, my heart is full of gratitude for the privilege of walking this journey of faith alongside you. Each of you is a reminder of God’s goodness—your prayers, your service, your compassion, and your steady trust in the Lord shine brightly in our community.

A new year is not simply a change of calendar; it is an invitation from God. An invitation to begin again. To release what has weighed us down. To embrace what draws us closer to Christ. To trust that the same God who carried us through yesterday will faithfully lead us into tomorrow.

My prayer for you is simple:

that the peace of Christ will guard your heart,

that the joy of the Spirit will strengthen your days,

and that the love of the Father will surround you in every season ahead.

May this year be marked by deeper faith, renewed hope, and surprising grace. And may we, as a church family, continue to bear one another’s burdens, celebrate one another’s joys, and shine the light of Jesus in all we do.

Try carrying these three words into the year:

1. Remember: Recall God’s faithfulness in past seasons.

2. Release: Lay down what you cannot control or carry.

3. Receive: Welcome God’s new mercies, new strength, and new direction.

With love in Christ,

Pastor Ken
